Consumption of pornography nowadays is normalised as a “healthy recreational activity” that everyone does – much like how tobacco was perceived earlier last century.

THIS IS NOT THE CASE – regular consumption of pornography has been [proven](https://www.psychotherapynetworker.org/blog/details/677/pornography-on-the-rise-a-growing-mental-health-problem) time and time again to be detrimental to one’s mental health but this information has been thrown under the bus and people are choosing to ignore it.

The availability of very explicit/hardcore pornography is also a HUGE issue, especially for kids and teens – an 11-year-old child can just go and search up “porn” at any moment and they will instantly be exposed to shit they should not be seeing at that age. What’s more unsettling is that the porn industry doesn’t even give a shit about the children they’ve exposed to hardcore pornography or the people that have ruined their lives by succumbing to addiction.

I am not advocating for banning pornography – if you wanna fuck up your life that’s your choice, not mine, but the availability of pornography (specifically hardcore porn) should be greatly restricted. It should also be impossible for someone under 18 to access pornography.

Pornography is like a drug and it should be treated as such.
